Bangladesh's ambition of producing nuclear electricity moved decisively closer to reality when the first consignment of nuclear fuel (Uranium) for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project arrived by special flight from Russia on September 28, 2023.

Shodesh Shipping & Logistic Company was nominated as the exclusive logistics agent in Bangladesh to handle and deliver all seven batches of this — the world's most sensitive cargo — to the Rooppur NPP project site.

Preparation was extraordinary. The company completed three months of dedicated training under the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, the Department of Fire Service & Civil Defense, and JSC Atomstroyexport — the main contractor of the plant.

On September 29, the fuel moved to the project site under special security arrangements following international guidelines: special vehicles escorted by the armed forces, fire brigade, and health service personnel. Every subsequent batch travelled the same way — flawlessly.
